2018 Driehaus Virtual Portfolio Competition’s awards ceremony
Driehaus believes in community, our own and the broader one around us. Along with the many charitable causes and volunteer opportunities our employees participate in, the firm sponsors a virtual portfolio competition with DePaul University. Engaging with the next generation is our way of connecting with the community and our collective future.
The Driehaus Capital Management Virtual Portfolio Competition is designed to stimulate student interest in investment portfolio management, promote the spirit of teamwork and emphasize the importance of research in investment decision-making.
Student teams create and manage a "virtual" portfolio using an online trading system. They are evaluated on their management of the portfolio according to their adherence to a chosen investment strategy, rationale for stock selection, compliance with the competition's guidelines and portfolio return. The competition runs during the academic year and is overseen by DePaul faculty and Driehaus Capital Management representatives.
A recruiter called me out of the blue and asked if I would be interested in this position at this incredible firm based out of Chicago. However, he said, the position was to be in the US Virgin Islands. I will admit I had no idea what or where they were! I had just moved to the US from hot, sunny Zimbabwe a couple of years prior so when the offer came in January, in the middle of winter, when I was living in Boston, it was quite an easy decision and one of the best I’ve ever made.
Employees participated in the 2019 Race Judicata 5K Run/Walk, benefiting the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation.
Driehaus is a collaborative and team-oriented environment. To foster our vibrant community, the firm sponsors an array of events to encourage employees to build relationships with their colleagues in an informal setting:
